As you may know, MAVERICK has been working with our pro bono client, Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW), for the past four years. Founded by the Dryden family, SCAW is a charity that raises money for bedkits, which are then distributed to children in need all over the world. A $35 donation buys one bedkit which typically consists of a mat/matress, bedding, clothing, school supplies, shoes, etc.
SCAW is a 100% charity. Every cent of every donation goes directly to a child in need, and volunteers that travel to distribute the bedkits pay their own way. To date, SCAW has distributed more than 1,000,000 bedkits to children in need.
A couple of months ago, I went on my first distribution trip with six strangers to Belgaum, India and together, we distributed 4,000 bedkits to children in need in the rural areas of Western Indian. Putting my PR hat on, I wanted to figure out a way to share…

Elana's "top five tips" to being a successful intern at MAVERICK PR.
1. Ask a lot of questions: Ask questions even when you're certain that you understand an assignment. There's nothing more irritating than receiving an incomplete assignment from an intern, after he insisted that he understood the instructions. I say this because I've been there :)
2. Don't complain. Sometimes (okay, often) you'll be asked to do unglamorous tasks, like mailing out 500 letters, or developing a super…
